It’s Spring! The weather is warming up, the birds are chirping, we survived the hard days of the homeschool year, and Spring Break is just around the corner! You know what else is approaching? Holy Week! Before long we will be remembering Christ’s sacrifice on Good Friday, and celebrating His life and our hope on Resurrection Sunday (or Easter Sunday). Don’t let the season slip by without teaching your children the most important lesson they will ever hear–the Resurrection of Jesus!
Love is the theme this month as we honor Saint Valentine by swapping cards, sending flowers, sneaking chocolate, and stealing away with our dates. Love by the world’s standards is defined by how we feel and what we can benefit from the relationship. The world’s love is displayed by pretty hearts, cupid’s arrows and sparkly things wrapped in pretty bows. The reality is that God’s love is something entirely different and manifested in ways that seem foolish by the world (1 Corinthians 1:18). What is love by God’s definition and how can we experience this love and employ it in our relationships with others?
The Christmas season is upon us! Year after year our little family has looked forward to celebrating Advent as we anticipate the arrival of Christmas! Today, I am sharing a little about the tradition of Advent, why our family celebrates Advent, and how we go about incorporating this tradition into the Christmas season.
